Microbas Precision

“Working with Fotograf Daniel is the cornerstone of our brand building, both globally and locally. Daniel takes the time to understand what we need to convey, and his images capture the complexity of our products and the quality we maintain in a way that's truly unique — which has helped us win business with customers in the space and semiconductor industries across Europe, the US and Asia.

On the local level, Daniel's engaging posts on our social channels have helped us present Microbas as an attractive employer, and today we have a steady stream of strong candidates reaching out with applications. None of that would have been possible without our long-standing collaboration with Fotograf Daniel.”

Managing Director · Microbas Precision

Since 2018 I've worked with Microbas Precision on photo, film and broader communication work. Sometimes continuously over longer stretches, sometimes project by project when something needs to go out.

What caught me immediately was the glass. The way light behaves passing through a ground component is nothing like lighting a metal surface, and it isn't something you can guess your way to on site. The difficulty in this kind of photography isn't the equipment, it's thinking through how a component should be rendered before the camera comes out. A part a few centimetres across has to show both the precision and the value of what has been made.

The longer the collaboration has gone on, the more the industry has opened up. The components end up in semiconductor manufacturing, in display production and in space. One of the images on this page shows the back of a satellite mirror, lightweight-machined into a lattice that weighs a fraction of what the glass otherwise would. The assignments have spanned production, products and the people behind the company.

This is the kind of work I want most: industry and technology, over time, with someone who wants to show what they actually do. A single assignment gives you images. A long-term collaboration gives you a visual language.
